About Word Unscrambler
Word Unscrambler is a free online tool that turns a handful of jumbled letters into every English word they can make. Type in 2 to 12 letters — plus up to two ? wildcards for blank tiles — and the tool instantly lists all matching words, grouped by length with the longest first.
Why We Built It
Every word game player knows the feeling: a Scrabble rack full of vowels, a Wordle grid with three letters locked in, an anagram puzzle in the Sunday paper that just will not crack. We built Word Unscrambler to be the fastest, simplest way out of that moment — no sign-up forms, no app downloads, no clutter. Just your letters in, words out.
How It Works
The tool carries a built-in dictionary of more than 315,000 English words. When you type your letters, it compares them against every word in the dictionary — letter by letter — and keeps only the words your letters can actually form. Because everything runs in your own browser, searches are instant and your letters never leave your device.
Who It Is For
- Scrabble & Words With Friends players looking for the best play on a tough rack, including bingo hunts.
- Wordle players brainstorming guesses from the letters they have already uncovered.
- Crossword and anagram fans who need a nudge on a stubborn clue.
- Students and word nerds exploring how many words hide inside a name or a long word.
A Quick Honesty Note
Our word list is a large general English dictionary. Official tournament lists for Scrabble (such as TWL in North America and CSW internationally) may include or exclude a handful of obscure words differently, so always double-check a high-stakes tournament play against the official list for your game.
